A heartfelt story for Mother’s Day… After 33 years in Auckland, yachting journalist Rebecca Hayter returned to her roots in Golden Bay. She had imagined a cottage on half an acre, but somehow she was in charge of 10 acres, an orchard, a hen house ruled by Romeo the Rooster and a flock administered by Michelle, the Wiltshire ewe. Neither did Rebecca expect that, in reconnecting with the local community, she would find resolution in the complex mother-daughter relationship she had left behind.
